LA nach SLC

Hallo zusammen (English see below)

Nach anderhalb Wochen haben wir nun Salt Lake City erreicht und geniessen ein paar Tage bei unseren Freunden Nik und Karin, sowie meinem "Goetti-Meitli" Joelle.

Die Reise von Los Angeles nach Salt Lake City brachte uns wieder einmal in Erinnerung wie gross dieses Land ist. Stundenlang kann man in endlosen Weiten fahren ohne das sich die Landschaft wesentlich veraendert.

Besucht haben wir neben dem Joshua Tree N.P. auch die Mohave Wueste, Death Valley, den Grand Canyon, Zion N.P. und den grossartigen Bryce Canyon.
Jeder dieser Orte ist faszinierend in seiner vielfallt an Farben und Formen.

Auch Temperaturmaessig machten wir doch einige Spruenge. Im Death Valley schwitzten wir bei ueber 45 Grad und im Bryce Canyon musste ich erst mal rausfinden wie die Auto-Heizung funktioniert, weil das Thermometer auf -1 Grad fiel und es zu schneien begann....

In Salt Lake City besuchten wir mit Fam. Hess den Lagoon-Vergnuegungspark und ich schaffte es tatsaechlich eine 8er-Bahn zu besteigen (ich will hier nicht erwaehnen, dass Joelle mich so lange bezierzte bis ich mich erweichen liess...). Doris ist da ja haerter im Nehmen und sie bestieg die noch groessere Bahn mit noch steileren Loopings. Ganz zu Schweigen davon, dass die Kids jede und wirklich jede Bahn ausprobierten....

Heute besuchten wir den Hogle Zoo, welcher sehr schoen gemacht ist und es viele Tiershows gibt.

Hi all!

After 1 1/2 weeks we arrived in Salt Lake City and are enjoying a couple of days at our friends house (Karin & Nik). Also we got to see my God daughter Joelle.

The journey from the City of Angels to Salt Lake City reminded us of the grandness (size) of the country. Hours on hours you can drive without recognizing any change of the sight.

Besides Joshua Tree NP, we visited the Mohave Desert, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Zion NP and Bryce Canyon.
Any of those sites is faszinating over and over again in its colors and shapes.

As far as temperatures we got to do some jumps already. In Death Valley we sweated at over 40 Degrees and froze our butts off at 0 Degrees in the Bryce Canyon. I was so surprised about the drop in temperature (it even started to snow) so I had to figure out the heating settings in our rental car fairly quickly.

In Salt Lake City, together with Family Hess we visited the Lagoon Theme Park. To my surprise I actually went on a Roller Coaster. I don't want to say that Joelle really pushed me 'til I did step on it. Doris, it this case is stronger in taking so she went on an even bigger one with faster loops. Did I mention that the Kids took ALL the rides, All of them?

Today we visited the Hogle Zoo (the Salt Lake local Zoo) that is very pretty and they do a lot of presentations.
